Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Road Classic RETURNS TO ORIGINAL ROAD RACE ROUTE
The Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Road Classic , hosted by Sun City is delighted to announce that the 2016 road race returns to the original route for this year’s 19th edition of the popular event.
To facilitate the change, which will now offer distances of 103km and 70km, the road race moves away from its traditional Saturday slot and will take place on Sunday, 21 August. The MTB Classic now fills the Saturday slot (20 August) over the weekend cycling festival.
The reason for the event discontinuing the popular old route three years ago was the increase in traffic volumes - in particular heavy mine trucks – on the R551 from Thabazimbi, which the race came across from 23km to 45km.
Lots of new stuff to do!
Come and join us for a fun filled, action packed weekend with loads of prizes up for grabs. Gain free access to Sun City & The Valley of Waves on the race day. Cyclists receive a Valley of Waves voucher (worth up to R150) per registration in their Race Pack. Free Entrance per car to the Sun City Resort before 07h30 on Saturday and 06h30 on Sunday.
Road Race Start and Finish:
The Road Race Start moves from its traditional spot. This year the starting chutes are being built on the Exit Road from Sun City in front to the MAIN ENTRANCE on the right (as you look at the chute from outside the venue). The finish remains as is outside the Sun City Main Gate.
MTB Start and Finish
Because of the Sky Village development the MTB Start/Finish has been moved to the parking lot at the Sky Train Station. The Start is the left of the Station with the finish on the right at the MVP Parking area.
